Sermon June 17, 2012 What Our Children Wish We Knew

Today we celebrated Father’s Day and our Graduates – what a great day!
Right before Pastor Jeff preached there was a drama (not recorded) that portrayed a father and son sitting with their backs to each other, taking turns reading entries from their journals. The journal entries were about the same situations but from each of their perspectives. Pastor Jeff references the drama a few times, so hopefully this gives you a sense of what it was about.

Sermon June 10, 2012 Worst Advice Ever Given

Today was Confirmation Sunday at Redford Aldersgate.  Nine students completed the 9 month class with pastor Jeff and were confirmed today.   Each student had selected a sponsor and worked with them throughout the class as well.  So, as each student came forward to be Confirmed, their family and sponsor stood with them.  It was a wonderful day in worship!

Charge Conference/Vote on West Outer Drive Sunday June 10 UPDATED

Please plan to attend a special Charge Conference on Sunday June 10 at 1 pm.  We will be serving lunch after church so it’s easy to stick around!

We are taking a crucial vote on our potential partnership with West Outer Drive UMC in Detroit.  In February, our church voted to enter into a conversation with West Outer Drive about creating a merger/adoption that would result in “One Church, Two Locations”.  Both churches voted to enter the conversation at that time.  Since then, Pastor Jeff and a transition team has spent time looking at funding, programming, staffing and building issues.  Much of this information has been presented in a series of handouts that have been available at church for a few weeks.

But now it is time to decide.  Our District Superintendent will be with us.  We need to hear from you and make a decision as a congregation about the future of Redford Aldersgate.  Hope to see you there!
